Began day at 9:30. Approx -3, overcast and flurries at parking lot. Old logging road compacted, approx 30cm snow depth, safe for descent. Approx 60cm snow depth in the drainage, still lots of holes and speartips, cautious descent required. Broke onto the shoulder and ascended the glades. No tracks, broke trail all the way to the end of tree line. Up to 90cm unconsolidated snow throughout, punching through 60-90cm. Type 2 fun. Sun came out 11:30, warmed up to 0, surface crust upon top out. Wind scoured snow and strong gusts above treeline. Did not observe any clear instabilities, whumpfing or cracks on chosen slopes. Observed debris on similar aspects but in alpine terrain in the distance. Descent was pleasant, tricky at times with the crust, but no rock or stump strikes. Returned to car 15:30. Summary: tough ascent, nice descent. Found snow coverage sufficient for the glades.
