We brought our skis to Hasler for a sled-accessed ski day. At the parking lot we were stoked to see over 5cm and more snow falling. Along with the snow came moderate to strong winds from the southwest. Windslabs were building below ridge crests and in Tree Line gullies. We used mellow features and small slopes to work our way up and assess windslab development. For the ski down we combined our conditions observations with careful slope evaluation to choose terrain with features too small to produce a significant windslab avalanche. That still gave us lots of options for fun powder turns.
