Turned back from Rainbow circa 1940 m elevation due to whitehout, and skiied N. facing line from Gin peak down to Rainbow Lake instead. About 15 cm of dry snow fell on previous M-F crust. This snow got wet from day's heat, even though it was more overcast than sunny. Wherever there was additional loading from wind, we observed shooting cracks. Elsewhere the new snow appeared to lack cohesion and did not appear to be forming slabs. North facing run down Gin Peak had decent snow quality, for this time of year and for those elevations (approx 1600-1800 m).
