Weather
High of 25 degrees at 13,000 feet. Skiing on South slopes.
Snowpack
Slope had new snow of about 40 cms on the face, was soft and cool in the morning and progressed to warm up by noon to be wet and heavy. 40 cms below the surface there was a thick, firm melt freeze crust from prior high pressure.
Avalanche
Climbed and skied the South face for lap 1, on the 2nd run things had warmed considerably, and a D1 R1 avalanche broke off of 2 of my ski turns. Ran 200 feet or so down the slope. The avalanche ran on a melt freeze crust approximately 40 cm down.
