Snowpack
The snowpack on east- facing upper elevations can be described as a layer cake of hard crusts separated by weak cohesionless facets. The icing on top is a 5cm hard wind crust that is breakable under ski pressure, but isolated to the vicinity of the human load. Pit tests showed that the layer of greatest concern is still the basal facets at about 20cm. Propagating results on the hard side of moderate indicate that the Persistent Slab problem exists and could become a problem where you find the right loaded area and the right trigger spot on a connected slope.
