Weather
The temperature was right around freezing at the parking lot at 8:30am. By noon, the sun came out, winds subsided, and ambient air temperature was quite warm. The temperature dropped noticeable around 3 pm and winds started to pick up again (still light by RMNP standards)
Snowpack
In wind deposited areas on east and north aspects, the snowpack was very deep. We did not probe depths, but the snow pack was likely well over 2 meters in these areas, and potentially much deeper (in many of these zones, HS was measured at between .75 and 1.5 meters in mid December). The surface snow on E and SE slopes had become saturated and, in some areas, crusty by the afternoon. North slopes held cold, dry snow through the end of the day.
