Weather
11,200 to 12,400 from 0700 t0 1400 in loveland pass area: 5-25 F, winds L from W, little to no snow loading noted. Sky - FEW-SCT, an hour or so of OVC with S1 precip and low vis.
Snowpack
12,200, NE, HS 90 cm. Mid pack had two distinct pencil hard layers with a 3-5 cm facet layer between. Lower 45cm was all F to F- hard facets 2-3 mm. ECT 12 P, ECT 17P, CT 17 SC (twice) all at 35cm above ground. Also an ECT 30X nearby. Very stubborn/sturdy midpack slabs over big, weak facets. Layer of concern was near the top of the depth-hoar/basal facets. One whumpf on the flat, near base of headwall.
Avalanche
An unobserved small/D1 cornice collapse from East facing ridge near pt 12479, possibly from day before or earlier.
