Half a foot of very light powder snow on top of firm layers and weak, facetted layers. Skier weight was enough to collapse the snow underfoot, making travel difficult, both uphill and down. Below 11000' snow depth was insufficient to cover much of the deadfall and small trees. Below 10000' coverage was desperate.
