Snowpack surface in tree openings was frozen down to ~25 cm below the surface. Total snow depth > 60 cm. In tree covered areas the freeze was about 10 cm thick. Wet grain ~ 5 - 8 mm below the frozen surface. Snow depth in tree covered areas > 100 cm
