Weather

Light snow (S-1) around 11 AM increasing to a few hours of S3 between 12 and 2 PM. Gusty winds near treeline. HST ~8 to 10 inches.

I traveled on northerly slopes below and near treeline.---Below treeline the new snow was not a cohesive slab and I didn't get any results in tests to indicate instability. No cracking or collapsing in sheltered areas. I didn't spend a lot of time near treeline but as soon as I did the upper snowpack was much different. From fist-hard snow BTL to dense 4-finger to 1-finger slabs NTL. These slabs would propagate fractures in ECTs on the near-surface facets beneath the storm snow.---I observed ATL terrain from a distance with poor visibility and due north start zones looked stripped.
