Patches of snow on the road started at 300m. By 400m there were stretches of road with 1' of nasty slushy snow but other areas were bare (depending on aspect and tree coverage). At 750m the snow on the road was continuous but a hard crust that was easy to walk on. At 900m we put our skis on and up at 1100m there was ~4' of wet snow on top of a bulletproof crust. Saw frequent pinwheels.
