want a slice of becher sub summit? Flavours of thick crust, 70km an hour winds, storm slab and no vis! And that’s the island life baby! Here’s what we noticed: Made it to sub-summit plateau (1215m) Snow sticking to ground at 1100m Thick crust that softened throughout the day (about 10cm thick) Definitely signs of an unstable snowpack in avalanche terrain around sub summit, and signs of wind loading in areas (was gusting 70km an hour when we were up there) But the snow was softer at this elevation and was likely nice up top too.
