Slope was skied twice by a party of three earlier in the day, then by a party of two at around 4pm. The second member of the two-person party (the eighth skier to ski the slope that day) triggered the slide, which took out all eight tracks. The skier was not caught, nor aware that he had triggered the slide until he joined his partner at the end of the pitch (in the trees to skier's right of the open face) and looked back to see the debris. It was nearing dusk, so the party did not confirm the crown height with certainty nor investigate the sliding surface. Avalanche dimensions are rough estimates. They did observe that some rocks were exposed in the bed surface, and that a distinct layer was visible halfway up the crown. With the failing light, pictures at the scene were not very good, and the provided photo was taken the following morning from above the Keith Hut, looking east.
