A skier triggered a size 1.5 on a northerly slope behind the Three Sisters today. The slab was 10cm deep and ran for about 125m. It was a super low density soft slab - (fist density storm snow). It ran on the surface hoar from early January. The skier deployed her airbag after first losing her ski and getting caught up in the slide. She came to a stop approximately 40m later against some trees. We were able to find all lost equipment and there were no injuries. We were definitely surprised that such a soft shallow slab could propagate and pack such a punch. Conditions will likely be even touchier tomorrow as more storm snow accumulates on top of this weak surface hoar layer.
