Weather

The skies were socked in and grey with low cloud levels. Light to moderate ridgeline winds from the SW were only moving minor amounts of snow. Light snow showers persisted throughout the day.

Snowpack

The snowpack is weak from top to bottom near and below treeline. 6-8" of new snow helped insulate ground hazards but isn't enough for confident skiing. Height of snow ranged from 40cm to 60cm with basal facets growing in size of the past two weeks to 2mm. Very little new slab formation was observed around ridgelines, but there is evidence of older wind-slabs below the new snow. These extend 10-20' below ridgetop on north-east facing slopes.
