Weather
No accumulating snow today. There were a few flurries at times but that is all. Mostly overcast with some filtered sun during times of thinner clouds.
Snowpack
No signs of instability observed. North and northeast has about 5 inches of recent snow on top of harder layers that are hard to push your pole through. East to southeast has a skiff of snow over a firm melt-freeze crust. While bootpacking up a southeast-facing slope, the snowpack was unsupportable and we sank down to the ground. I am unsure if this was just a rocky area and conditions are different on open slopes. After noon, it felt really warm and the north-facing surface snow became moist with greenhousing. Some rollerballing out of a steep, rocky easterly-facing slope and rollerballing on any steep slope below 10,500 ft.
Avalanche
Old very large avalanche southeast of Star Mountain. A few small loose wet lower down near Twin Lakes.
