Weather

Snowfall ranged from S1 to S2 with periods of S5. Skies were mostly obscured with a couple short breaks in clouds helping the sun poke through and visibility improved. But those were brief with a return to stormy weather.

Snowpack

We found about 8 inches of new snow since early this morning with an additional 2 to 3 inches by 4 pm. This brings total snowfall since 3/8 to around 16 inches. Like the last storm, snowfall arrived wet and dense. We found good bonding on steep, north and south-facing terrain below treeline - only minor cracking on steep convexities. Cracks were confined to below our skis and did not propagate outward. Yesterday's sunny skies and warm temperatures formed a thin, melt-freeze crust on sunny slopes below storm snow.
