A few scattered clouds with calm southwest winds. Warm overnight temperatures in the 20s and 30F degrees near treeline.
Snowpack
Sun and wind have effected the surface of the snow creating a thin wind skin that has been melted and refrozen. This crust is variable in thickness and is mostly unsupportable. The sun was loosening the firm snow and melting its surface. The snow layers in this location repeat a hard over soft structure to the ground. Look at Snow Pilot profile. No alarming results in stability tests. The snow seems to be bonded well as a column until you meet the top of the depth hoar, which in this location 84cm up from the ground, very deep.
