Snowpack
Went into two drainages that have not seen previous traffic this snow season. No collapsing was observed, but had some cracking radiate 20 ft from my footprint on a small 38 degree north facing slope BTL. The majority of the snow was supportable to skis, drifting from north to east to south while working an up route. The east facing ridgelines in these areas have erratic wind slab "shields" that were likely built on 12/15, but not easy to skin on nor detect as these features have 10cm's of near faceted snow on top of the slabs. The south/southeast part of the ridge has an average depth of 25 cm with a nearly wet (at 12pm) 7cm melt freeze crust and moist grains below. The due east aspect below 11.600 formed a thin breakable crust on the surface as the shade set in. See snow profiles attached to this report for details on due east and north NTL/BTL.
