Snowpack

Weak and thin snowpack below treeline. Average height of snow is less than a meter below 10,000 ft. From 10,000 to a little over 11,000 ft the average height is closer to 120-130 cm. There is a a soft (4F) slab above fist-hard facets and depth hoar. Some spots are punchy and unsupportable to ground. Did not experience any signs of instability on this low-elevation tour in the trees.

Avalanche

Very larger (D3) natural avalanches on northeast aspect of Garret's Peak, and a small skier-triggered avalanche (D1) above the the Ditch Trail in East Snowmass Creek breaking to ground.
