Blustery. ~10cm fresh, getting moved around somewhat by the wind. Winds much stronger by Andrews Tarn, with wind slabs approaching 25cm. Sporadically snowing throughout the day,

Snowpack

We dug with 145 cm depth to ground, near the base of the Otis Redding couliors. North aspect below treeline, relatively sheltered from wind. ~10 cm fresh on 4F-1F old snow. Bottom 30-40cm of the snowpack is 4-5mm angular fist hardness depth hoar with low cohesion. Extended column test gave no results. Propagation saw test 5cm below the upper interface of depth hoar gave sudden propagation to the end with cut length 15/100. We chose not to ski the slope.

Avalanche

New snow sloughing on >40deg slopes on north aspects. Point releases in new snow. No activity observed in older snow.
