Weather

Overcast, snowing, intermittent blue sky. 10-15 mph WNW wind. Very cold.

Snowpack

Skinned and skied WSW facing low angle ~25 degree trees. 11,400-12,100'. Didn't dig into snow pack but pole probes reveled 4F-1F (?) crust below new storm snow (10") and easily punched through to fist hard facets below. HS unknown. Numerous 'loud' and 'rumbling' collapses/shooting cracks propagating 30-40' up slope as well as sides on low angle glades.

Avalanche

Large (R2/D2?) avalanche on east facing ridge of Geissler Mountain. Right flank appeared to be greater than 4' deep. Ran all the way to bench out.
