Weather

Skies obscured, with occasional sucker holes. Snow showers moved in and out, feeling very convective at times, with bursts of graupel and S2. Northwesterly winds were strong and gusty over ridges and drifting was consistent.

Snowpack

Drifts and small cornices near/just above treeline were soft. By mid-afternoon, they had stiffened up enough to crack a meter or two from your skis.

Below treeline, the new snow was not forming storm slabs on slopes less than 35*. There were some tiny loose snow avalanches on very steep road cuts.
