Snowpack

We traveled below treeline on northerly sloped from 8k to 9400 ft. Although there was minimal cracking and collapsing for the majority of the day, we did experience one significant collapse on a more open and steeper northerly slope. The snowpack on northerly slopes is supportable and about 1 meter deep. There is very weak faceted snow about 20 cms from the ground that produced propagating results in a snowpack test.---In the non-wind-affected area we traveled in today the 8 inches of new snow did little to change overall stability.---A buried rain crust was observed on north slopes about 40 cms from the surface. There is faceted snow layers around the crust, but the facets aren't overly weak and did not produce results in snowpack tests.
