What a storm! First clear day that allowed us to get a good look at all the new activity.
Snowpack
Snow depth at our snow study plot at 11,300' surpassed 2 meters with this most recent storm.
Avalanche
On Sunday 3/3 remote triggered the Harris's Terrain trap (an East facing slope at 11,400') from approx 15' feet away. It was a small slope, but propagated widely, approx 120' (SS-AS/r-R3-D1.5-N). On Monday 3/4 observed avalanches off the East side of Highlands Ridge, and that McFarlane's bowl had avalanched, but visibility was too obscured to really get a good look. Tuesday 3/5 we were able to better observe the McFarlane's Bowl avalanche. It propagated over 700' across E- NE- SE aspects starting at 10,800'. We couldn't tell how far the debris extended, but saw several broken trees and would estimate the the crown ranged from 1 - 3' (SS-N-R3-D3-N).
