Weather

Light NW to N winds with moderate gusts. High solar with partial cloud cover. Warm temps in the afternoon. Minor snow transport. 3” new at TH and same all the way up to 13,6k

Snowpack

Forecast was spot on - recent warming and overnight freeze locked most everything up. Discontinuous wind slabs 1-2’ deep and very small above 13k on east face that were stubborn. Snowsurface under new snow was wet in places. Huge cornice looming above Pearl Couloir as well as many other spots. Concern for wet problems on the way out below treeline. Large rollerballs from the past week coming from Malemute Pk’s N face.

Avalanche

10+ D1-D2 wet slab slides from past weeks warming on SE aspect Leahy Pk and one on east face of peak just south of Cathedral. Most ran several feet deep and some at the ground.
