Whymper Area

December 30: Started our ski about 10:30am from the Marble Canyon parking lot. Bushwhacked through the dense trees, then made our way up the main shoulder. First time in this area. Variable snow; first, it was wind affected with hard and sometimes icy sections. Then light and faceted in the upper trees. A great powder run in the alpine, but we turned back before the weather station because it got super wind affected above us. Some drum like sounds and isolated cracking on some wind affected areas. Nothing major. Top half was a great ski. Bottom half was awful.
