Snowpack
What a difference a week makes. Snow pack has depleted extensively. There was not enough snow to make it worth digging a pit in the South Facing Gully. We dug one over the ridge facing North. At the top of the ridge the pack was 10 feet deep. The pack is very solid with a number of weak layers. Weak layers did not collapse easily and only released with leverage. They were though very clean shears. On the South slope, while sunny the wind prevented early corn. We first encountered corn at 11,200 ft at 12.30pm.
Avalanche
There is evidence of a slide this season that took out trees on the East side of the gully.
