Erewhon Hut Erewhon Hut - Widespread slick rain crust below 1850m, breakable in more solar areas. Below this sits dry rounding facets to ground. Above 1850m terrain is highly wind affected. Gale NW has left stiff wind driven snow well downslope in lee terrain. Above 1900m in lee terrain the majority of the snowpack was made up of 1F rounding facets. A couple of weak layers were noted 25cm down on thin graupel layer and 50cm down on larger faceted grains. Despite clean shears from shovel only ECTN results were found when testing. Overall it is still a thin early season snowpack with snow depths varying from 10cm to 1m in wind loaded areas.
