Snowpack

snowpack is rapidly melting and there are widespread and large patches of bare ground below treeline. Rapidly thinning snowpack is hanging on on N aspects, but just barely. Storm snow from last storm was in the 12 to 18 in range above treeline, and now has settled to less than 6 inches, and in some places is less than an inch and largely melted off. Anywhere the soft slab from the last storm is still present it is well bonded to the underlying old snow. MUCH less reactive than a few days ago, and not really much a problem anymore. Cool temps and overcast skies kept the upper frozen snowpack supportable all day.
