Temps in the single digits and moderate W winds provided inhospitable conditions at ridgeline. Below treeline, visibility was mixed as winds blew new snow from the trees.

West aspects below treeline HS 58cms, depth hoar (4F-) to 3mm made up lower 34cms. Tilt test showed SP shear in first 10cm of snow. No fracture with compression tests on depth hoar. SW aspect at treeline HS 80cms. Wind broken particles on surface (0.5mm). Storm slab 50cm thick capping decomposing mfc. lower 30cms depth hoar with distinct grain size change at 17cms. Tilt test shear @ 20cm.Q2 in storm snow.Did not linger at this location.
