Weather
Snowing about an inch an hour. Fluctuating sizes of stellar dendrites. Wind was present coming out of the southwest but not strong. Elevation 10,640 ft. Aspect South to South East.
Snowpack
The Snowpack consisted of about a 75cm drought layer with faceted and ice layers within it, And a 70cm storm layer on top of it this led to a weak layer underneath about 2.5 feet of fresh storm snow. Elevation 10,700 ft. Aspect South to South East.
Avalanche
The observed avalanche was on a South to South East aspect and occurred in between our two laps of the Coal Creek run on Coal Bank Pass. We noticed some slide debris on a steeper section of the slope as we were skinning up the main track from the road. As we looked further up the slope we noticed two crowns one above and one below triggered by the first, The first crown was about 3-4 inches deep and the second about 6-8 inches deep. There were some skier tracks spotted far left at the top of the slope but was unclear weather the avalanche was skier triggered or naturally triggered. The slide would be classified as A; R2D1 SS. no imigaes of the slide were taken
