Clear skies, calm the entire time, parking lot temp @ 0930 was 18F. Temp where I dug the pit (1030, 12,450', N aspect) was 17F/-8c.

Snowpack

Surface temp -17C, T20 -10C. Boot pen 11cm, HS 105cm. 1mm of F+ DFs over a 0.5cm 4F MFcr. Below that was 15cm of F-hard storm snow, then 3cm's of 3-5mm 1F facets, a 1cm P+ MFcr, and then 50cm's (as far as I dug) of pencil-hard 1-2mm rounding facets. ECTN x2, which was surprising.
