Clouds increased as a storm moved into the area. During the duration of my tour approximately .5 to 1 inch accumulated. Snowfall was most intense on the top of the pass.
Snowpack
The snowpack in the Lizard Head area is thinner than other parts of the North San Juan forecast zone. HS 70-130cm's No signs of natural activity following the 12/25 storm were observed. No Cracking or collapsing throughout the duration of the tour. On South and East facing slope the surface crust is stout and setting an edge was difficult at times. On South facing slopes near and above treeline multiple crust-facet combinations were observed on hand pits. On a NW facing slope in the near treeline elevation band a snowpit showed strength in the snowpack, but hard test failures on facets and depth hoar on the ground. The snowpack was dry throughout.
