Snowpack

Ski lap on the Northern side of Snoggrass to check out how the mid pack is hanging in there during this cold high pressure. Pit in a sheltered start zone at the top of 1st bowl, 33 degree slope with an HS of 80cm. This pit was dug within 5 feet of old ski tracks and this possibly affected the test results. Top 10cm was fist hard with 1mm near surface facets on top. Then a progressively stronger mid pack to 1 finger, with rounded grains still hanging in there. The bottom 15cm was are ugly cousin the DH, about 3mm. ECTN-SC 30, CT23RP failed on the DH. Propagation unlikely result in the ECT was hard to trigger and possibly effected by nearby ski tracks. About mid way down 1st bowl the mid pack was mostly non existent with boot pin to the ground. Small surface hoar was also chilln' on the snow surface below 11,200ft. Lots of old avalanching and weak bed surfaces on slopes over 35 degrees in the area.
