Weather
FEW-SCT--increasing clouds throughout day. Observed a airtemp of -4C at 1200 on a south aspect BTL.
Snowpack
Observed a relatively strong upper and middle snowpack over a weak layer of FC and DH on S and E aspects BTL. Bottom 30 cm continue to show some rounding but are weak and angular. We observed some minor cracking in a surface wind crust near TL on N and E aspects that was <10cm. DTH (SC) x1 on >3 mm DH near the ground on an East aspect at 10,800 feet.
Avalanche
We did see several smaller (D1-D1.5) loose dry avalanches in an east facing cirque above Crater Lake. They ran in very steep "cliffy" terrain. We estimate them to be over a week old.
