Weather

FEW, strong NW winds with Light Blowing snow. Airtemps of 0c at 1200 at 9400 ft and -4c at 9980 at 1500.

Snowpack

HS averaged 1 meter where we dug--9980 feet in a east trending meadow. Snowpack is surprisingly strong. Lots of rounding facets (FCxr) with even the DH at the bottom 20 cm of the snowpack showing signs of rounding. No results in compression tests. Repeatable DTH (SC) on 3.0 mm rounding DH (DHxr) and FCxr up 20 cm from the ground. Today's surface form was a mix of Near Surface Facets and DFs.

Avalanche

Observed two older slab avalanches while driving in the Moffat Tunnel road. Both looked to be a week or so old and D2 or larger in size. They were both on easterly aspects above TL. One was in the Crater Laker drainage and the other was off the shoulder north of Arapahoe Lakes.
