Snowpack

Persistent weak layers are certainly present here and structure is generally poor. Above treeline: snowpit showed continued faceting with 1-3 mm depth hoar at base of pack; plenty of layers above to serve as a slab; loading on north and east aspects, scouring on west and south. Near treeline: On north aspect, fist hard facets comprise lowest 65 cm with a supportable slab above where wind is a factor.
