Weather
Warm and springlike in Silverthorne, but rather chilly at the pass summit once the sun dropped below the Kitchen Wall ridge.
Snowpack
The snowpack is rather sketchy, evidenced by widespread natural and skier triggered avalanches. Obvious problems, including wind slab, deep slab and persistent weak layers, can be easily found on all aspects and elevations. While the snowpack may appear to be difficult to interpret, all of the yellow flags and obvious signs of instability are readily available.
