Broken to scattered skies, mild temps, light wind.
Snowpack
3-6" of new snow quickly became moist or wet on all aspects. Below the new snow, the snowpack was saturated and unsupportive on skis until we reached around 11,500 feet in elevation, at which point a very thin refreeze kept us afloat.
Avalanche
Widespread wet loose cycle today on all aspects, near and above treeline, D1's and D2's. A fair number of them involved older snow, as evidenced by dirty paths and debris. We intentionally skier triggered a wet loose that gouged into old snow, and ran 1,000 vertical feet with some impressive debris. WL-ASc-R3-D2-O.
