Snowpack
2/2/2013, Sams Trees 110 East 32 Degrees 11300 feet HS105 From top down 105-62 settled storm with NSF on surface 4F-F 62-60 Pencil suncrust with facets on top and bottom 60-52 F--4f sitting on top of preserved NSF 2mm 52 to ground was classic facets F Stability tests: CT12 Q1 at 62; second test was CT21 Q1 at same level ECTP 21x2 at 62 but pretty much stepped down to 52 with Q1 sheer at both layers. The grains on the 52 clearly preserved NSF. Persistent Weak. Collapsing noted by second skier in my initial trail break. While breaking, I did not sense or feel any collapsing. When I elected to pull the plug, and entered pit land, another party of 2 skied in my track above the pit 30-40 feet away and they initiated collapse that I could see and feel into the pit. Good energy. Skiing down on 32 degree terrain, no activity. Did not see anything new in terms of new slide. All old from storm and days after.
