Stormy in the mountains... sunny in the valley

We left the sunny valley bottom and ascended into a stormy scene. In the alpine above 2000m we found 5cm of new dry snow sitting on 20cm of moist snow from last weeks warm temperatures. Sled and ski pen were both about 5cm. No recent new avalanches observed. The winds were moderate to strong form the SW transporting snow in exposed areas. As we descended back to the vehicles and into the sun the new snow was moist on sunny aspects.
