Today our group ascended the Asulkan Valley on a beautiful clear day and made our way towards the Saphire col via the triangle Morraine. We found some good quality skiing BTL bellow 1900m but variable conditions above that elevation ranging from punchy dust on crust condition to hard wind blown snow. Presence of a hard WSL (P+) at 2400m on a steep convex roll getting towards Saphire col today made us turn around. Investigation of the bond with the feb 14th FC and that WSL revealed planar easy shears on a few hand isolated columns. We did not observed any new avalanches today. HS on the Asulkan Gl. @ 2400m is 320 cm +. Blowing snow from the south.
