-
We had a close call as a skier in our party triggered a large avalanche on S aspect high up on Snow Peak in Kananaskis. He was on the edge of the slab when it broke off and skied out onto bed surface easily. We perhaps underestimated the conditions just before (we were conservative whole day) and should have turned around, although, we approached the whole slope quite cautiously. The avalanche picked up speed quickly, swept into a gully and cleaned it to the surface/rocks. We couldn't see where the debris piled as it ran over a bump about 500m below us. Call me at 1-778-898-7780 if you want/need more information about the situation.
