Sunshine Meadows

Skied in the backcountry near sunshine village where only Strawberry lift is open, there was wet snow to the top of Strawberry with light winds. We did a few laps on south aspect of Mt Standish. Trail breaking was difficult as a new 10cm layer of wet heavy snow sat over a faceted midpack that you sank through especially in shallow areas. We didn't observe the October crust that is prevalent at Highwood pass. We observed a wet sluff beneath the goats eye from the parking lot. It was a size 1.5 on north aspect in the alpine that only envolved the new snow. Skiing was more like plowing on slopes below 25 degrees.
