Beautiful bluebird day in steep creek
Weather
Bluebird and beautiful. Warming from sun felt after 1 pm, but air temp didn’t rise too much throughout the day. All S slopes have been getting torched by the sun during these past two sunny streaks.
Snowpack
CTH23 above persistent mid feb layer. Resistant planer with large potential. Moderate probability with very high consequence. We dialed back our terrain choice after seeing our results.
Avalanche
Size 2.5 noticed across the bowl NE from Steep 2318 on very sun affected SW slope. Skier triggered by an unknown party with an exit path from skier 20 m below crown. Another party told us they knew the skier and they are alright. Unable to see specifics of incident (crown depth, crystal type etc.) as it was quite far away. Zoom in on last picture for image.
