We day tripped up Jacks in search of some snow. Snow started at 600m Snow depth @815m was 165cm Snow depth @1300 was deeper than my 3m probe Found a firm crust at all elevations. Boot penetration typically 30-40cm. Ski penetration 0cm unless sun affected than penetration of 2cm. In the afternoon below 900m crust was breaking down into spring like corn snow. Signs of previous sz 1 avalanches and plenty of pinwheeling from previous storm cycle. No avalanche activity witnessed today
