Skied a few morning laps in Montana trees 15cm - 30cm of fresh, low density snow overlying the early December crust. Riding quality was good, though you could feel the crust and this became more noticeable at lower elevations. Around midday we began noticing significant whumpfing/settlements and observed shooting cracks whilst both skinning up and skiing down/traversing.
