Today we explored the other side of Hudson Bay Mountain. We endured moderate winds from the west and lots of blowing snow building wind slabs on lee terrain features (easterly facing slopes). We found sheltered snow in some meadows but there was wind affected snow down into the trees in many places. We noted one small wind slab avalanche that failed naturally on a west facing feature due to the previous strong outflow winds. We also triggered a small wind slab avalanche on a test slope on a SE feature. This slope had been rapidly loaded during the day while we were out riding.
