Weather
Steady snowfall, cold temps, and strong SW winds. 11" of new snow with 0.45" of water content measured this morning. Snowfall total of 19" with 0.75" of water content (and counting) from the recent three storm cycle. Snowfall eased in the late afternoon, but strong winds continued.
Snowpack
Snowfall exceeded anticipated amounts and winds were very strong. Moderate cracking was observed in wind loaded test slopes, but visibility was reduced to about 50' and any triggered results were unobserved. Loose snow avalanches were easily triggered on steep north aspects below treeline.
Avalanche
Observed natural activity was limited due to snowfall and strong winds. Visibility improved late in the day, but no significant avalanche activity was observed. Numerous small (D1) loose snow avalanches were observed along the highway corridor.
